Villa Stuck München
Villa Stuck München
Villa Stuck is a nationally and internationally renowned place to encounter art from the 19th to the 21st centuries. An important collection of works by Franz von Stuck (1863-1928) and international exhibitions on art around 1900, as well as modern and contemporary art, make Villa Stuck a unique place to experience art.
The Villa Franz von Stucks (built in 1897/1898) combines luxurious staging, a representative artist’s studio and private living. The Villa Stuck was celebrated by his contemporaries as a »modern«, if idiosyncratic, sensation. At the Paris World’s Fair in 1900, the furniture that the artist had specially designed for his villa was awarded a gold medal. The artist’s villa was completed in 1915 with a new, spacious studio building. At the back of the villa is an artist’s garden that combines Pompeian models with 19th-century works of art.
